An agreement has been reached between the government and the Central Dairy Cooperatives Association. A five-point agreement was signed between the two sides following talks this evening.

A five-point agreement including that every industrialist should pay the dues to the dairy farmers by April 3 was reached in the presence of Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr Beduram Bhusal, said President of the Central Dairy Cooperatives Association, Amar Bahadur Kunwar.

It has been agreed that the industry should purchase milk without reducing the quantity of milk purchased from cooperatives so that there is no milk holiday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to coordinate for the export of milk and dairy products by include it in the policies and programs of the coming financial year and to continue the insurance program given by the government to livestock farmers. Furthermore, the government will take initiatives to meet the demands of the Central Dairy Cooperatives Association.

Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Revatiraman Paudel and President of the Central Dairy Cooperatives Association, Mr Kunwar participated in the talks.

It may be noted that the Association had been holding protests since February 20 calling for release of the due payment of milk. President Kunwar said that with the agreement all programs of protests have been suspended.
