KATHMANDU: The government has taken 11 decisions, including approving a software development and operation committee, increasing allowances for school employees and early childhood development facilitators, and accepting a grant worth around Rs 2.73 billion from Japan.
A Cabinet meeting decided to accept the Japanese government’s grant for a project to improve air traffic control at Tribhuvan International Airport.
The government also decided to send a Nepali delegation led by a joint secretary from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the 14th meeting of the Joint Working Group on border management, scheduled to be held in India on August 20 and 21.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of a sub-centre of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center in Nepal. It also decided to send a Nepali delegation led by the foreign minister to the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
In the education sector, the government decided to increase the monthly remuneration grant provided by the federal government for early childhood development facilitators, school employees and school support staff by Rs 5,000.
It also decided to bring the salaries of teachers working under teaching support grant quotas in Grades 9–10 and Grades 6–8 in line with those of third-class secondary and lower-secondary teachers, respectively.
The Cabinet also approved the signing of a bilateral air services agreement between Nepal and Saudi Arabia.
It approved bills to amend the Payment and Settlement Act, 2075 and the Citizen Investment Trust Act, 2047 for submission to the Federal Parliament.
The government further decided to promote Joint Secretary Kamal Prasad Bhattarai to the gazetted special class (secretary) and appoint him as chief secretary at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Bagmati Province.
