KATHMANDU: The government of Nepal has announced an extension of office hours for all government offices across the country, effective from today.

The decision, published in the Nepal Gazette on the 2nd of Chait 2079, states that the new office hours will be from 10 am to 5 pm.

Previously, the government had fixed office hours from 10 am to 4 pm, starting from Kartik 16th and lasting until Magh 15th.

However, the new directive indicates a change in the timing, with office hours extended until 5:00 pm. This adjustment is applicable from Baisakh 1st to Kartik 15th and from Magh 16th to end of Chaith.

Notably, the Ministry of Home Affairs specifies that on Fridays, the office will remain open from 10 am to 3 pm.

Additionally, there will be a designated lunch break from 1:30 pm to 2 pm.

This decision aims to provide more flexibility and convenience for the general public and government employees alike.
