Kathmandu, January 24

In a bid to curb rising incidents of deception and unauthorized stays abroad, the Department of Immigration, operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal, has introduced a set of comprehensive rules for individuals planning international travel on tourist visas.

The new guidelines, effective immediately, include the following key provisions:

Passport Power Play: Tourists must wield passports with a minimum validity of 6 months, ensuring their travel superhero is ready for action.

Visa Vibes: A must-have entry pass! Travelers need to flaunt a valid visa for the destination country, marking a crucial checkpoint before departure.

Round-Trip Ticket Rule: It’s all about planning ahead. A round-trip ticket is now a non-negotiable requirement to embark on the global adventure.

Sleep Spots Sorted: From hotel reservations to familial ties, evidence is essential. A confirmation of hotel booking or family relationship proof within three generations is now mandatory.

Invitation Insights: Special VIP access! A letter of invitation from a governmental or non-governmental entity committing to covering the entire visit cost, or proof of having at least USD 500, is now a prerequisite.

GCC Extra Measure: Travelers eyeing destinations like the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia on a tourist visa must complete a self-declaration form. This step ensures an added layer of protection against human trafficking and deception.

Prem Prasad Dahal, Director and Information Officer of the Department of Immigration, emphasized the necessity of these rules due to the surge in fraudulent activities associated with tourist visas.

These regulations aim to enhance scrutiny and verification processes, fostering safer and more secure international travel for Nepali citizens. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving travel landscape.
