Lalitpur – Journalist Niroj Tolange stated that the Nepali Christian community should declare a symbolic movement to empower their votes through the by-elections in Elam.
As the by-election scheduled for May 15 approaches in Elam Area No. 2, journalist Niroj Tolange, who also serves as the secretary of the Christian Journalist Fellowship Nepal, mentioned in a radio program that the Christian vote is 40,000. He suggested that a symbolic movement should be initiated to leverage their votes in the by-elections.
Regarding the recent circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, he criticized it, stating that it goes against international human rights. He described it as a calculated attempt by the Ministry of Home Affairs to restrict the religious freedom of minority religious communities, emphasizing that the government should revoke this circular under any circumstances.
Despite the country being secular, the Nepali Christian community is perceived as terrorists by the state. When practicing their religion and faith, Nepali Christians are met with handcuffs, torture, arrest, and imprisonment by the state. Niroj Tolange urged the Ilameli Christians to reconsider their votes in the by-election, expressing a lack of trust in the government and political parties.
He highlighted that the government is attempting to portray the Christian community as uncivilized by distorting the essence of the Constitution. He warned of potential future attacks and discrimination against the Christian community, urging them to stay vigilant and unite in the face of adversity.
