KATHMANDU: The American Chamber of Commerce delegation is poised to participate in the forthcoming investment summit scheduled for April 28-29.
During a meeting between US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean Thompson, and Minister for Finance, Barshaman Pun, on Monday, it was disclosed that the US delegation would take part in the upcoming Nepal Investment Summit.
According to the Finance Minister Pun’s secretariat, the discussions between US Ambassador and Minister Pun encompassed various bilateral issues, with a focus on American support for ongoing development projects in Nepal, aimed at ensuring timely completion within the prescribed timeframe.
Minister Pun underscored the government’s preparedness for the investment summit, stressing the importance of fostering a conducive investment climate through legal and procedural reforms.
“Pursuant to directives from the Prime Minister during cabinet meetings, all ministers have been instructed to make comprehensive preparations,” stated Pun during the meeting. “With a favorable investment environment, we anticipate attracting a significant number of American investors and look forward to cooperation from the embassy as well.”
Ambassador Thompson urged Minister Pun to expedite investment-friendly legal and procedural reforms, highlighting the criticality of fostering such an environment for investment.
