Lalitpur. The Bikash Shield National Wheelchair Basketball Championship Nepal 2080 is going to be held in Pokhara under the organization of Sundar Dhoka Sathi sewa, an organization active in the field of disabilities.
Executive Director of the organization Bijata Adhikari informed that 15 teams will participate in the tournament to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday of February 20-21 (March 3-4) at the basketball court of Pokhara Stadium in the second annual commemoration of the late Bikash Adhikari, Executive Director of the organization.
Koshbilas Adhikari, the founding president of the organizing organization, said that nine men’s teams and six women’s teams from all seven provinces will compete in the competition, including the army team and the armed forces team.
Vikas Shield, established in the memory of the late Vikas Adhikari, Executive Director of Sundar Dhoka Sathi sewa, is a project to organize national-level sports for persons with disabilities.
As the late officer dedicated his life to advocating for disabled people to experience a life of completeness with enthusiasm, happiness, passion, joy, respect, and dignity, as a mark of his respect, his life partner organizes various national-level disability sports events once every two years. The Executive Director of the organization, Bijata Adhikari, informed.
The winner of the competition, under the main sponsorship of Sundar Doo Sahit Seva, will receive Rs 50,000 for the first team from six groups of men and women. The second team will receive Rs 40,000, and the third team will receive Rs 30,000.
President Koshbilas Adhikari said that since he himself is a disabled person, the competition was also organized to convey the message that disabled people can play like other people.
