NEW YORK: Prime Minister Balendra Shah ‘Balen’ and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese have met.
During the meeting, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said that he will continue to provide assistance to Nepal affected by the devastating floods in the reconstruction and rehabilitation process.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Balendra Shah on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Albanese expressed Australia’s deep condolences to the Nepali people affected by the floods.
He also informed Prime Minister Shah about the assistance that Australia has been providing to Nepal so far.
Albanese said that Australia stands with the Nepali people in reconstruction and mourning as Nepal recovers from the devastating floods and the extensive damage caused by them.
He also said that Australia’s sympathy continues for the families and relatives of Australian citizens who are missing due to the floods in Nepal. “We will continue to work with Nepal to provide assistance where it is most needed,” Albanese said.
The devastating floods and landslides that occurred in Nepal on August 26 have caused great human and material losses. Australia had previously provided humanitarian assistance, including specialist teams for search and rescue.
