KATHMANDU: Nepal’s remittance inflows increased by 41.2 percent in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, reaching more than Rs 1.91 trillion, according to the latest report of the Nepal Rastra Bank.

The Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report, released on Tuesday, shows that remittance inflows stood at Rs 1,916.90 billion by mid-May.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, remittance inflows had grown by 13.3 percent.

The report also shows that net secondary income (net transfers) reached Rs 2,091.86 billion during the review period, compared to Rs 1,480.28 billion in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the number of Nepalis receiving final labour approval for foreign employment under both institutional and individual categories stood at 335,510 during the first 10 months of the fiscal year.

Similarly, 326,364 workers obtained renewed labour approvals during the review period.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, 405,610 Nepalis had received final labour approval, while 280,314 had renewed their labour permits.
