BIRGUNJ: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chair Rabi Lamichhane has received legal relief after the Parsa District Court allowed the revision of “organised crime” charges filed against him.
A single bench of Judge Mohan Subedi at the Parsa District Court granted permission to amend the charge sheet, effectively removing the organised crime allegation against Lamichhane.
With the court order, the serious organised crime charge against him will no longer proceed, marking a significant legal relief for Lamichhane and his party.
Earlier, the Kaski District Court had also granted similar relief in cases involving Lamichhane and his partner Gitendra Babu Rai, including organised crime and money laundering charges.
However, Lamichhane has not been fully cleared of all allegations, as the court has allowed charges related to cooperative fraud to remain in place.
The amendment request was filed by the District Government Attorney’s Office in Parsa after approval and consultation from the Office of the Attorney General. The court found the request legally valid and approved the amendment accordingly.
Following similar relief from two district courts, the scope of serious charges against Lamichhane has now narrowed significantly.
