KATHMANDU: The oath of office and secrecy for the 274 newly elected members of the House of Representatives (HoR) will be administered today.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, all preparations have been completed for the ceremony scheduled at 2:00 pm on Thursday at the newly constructed multipurpose hall in Singha Durbar.

Senior-most member Arjun Narsingh KC will administer the oath, informed spokesperson Ekram Giri. KC himself was sworn in by President Ram Chandra Paudel on Wednesday.

A total of 47 members will take the oath in languages other than Nepali, including 17 in Maithili. The oath will be administered in accordance with constitutional provisions and the House of Representatives Election Act, 2074 BS.

The Secretariat has asked members to arrive two hours prior to the ceremony with their membership certificate issued by the Election Commission, a copy of their citizenship certificate, and two recent passport-sized photographs.

Members have also been requested to attend in formal or traditional attire. Necessary arrangements, including seating and official setups, have been completed at the venue.

In the House of Representatives elections held on March 5, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secured 182 seats, followed by the Nepali Congress with 38, CPN-UML with 25, Nepali Communist Party with 17, Shram Sanskriti Party with seven, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party with five seats.
