KATHMANDU: Newly elected members of the House of Representatives are set to take the oath of office and secrecy on March 26 at 2:00 pm.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat said preparations are underway following a discussion held on Thursday at Singha Durbar with representatives of six political parties represented in the new House.

According to Secretariat spokesperson Ekaram Giri, the meeting discussed arrangements related to oath-taking, orientation programs, and management of parliamentary party offices.

He said the senior-most member of the House will be identified prior to the ceremony and will first take the oath from President Ramchandra Paudel. The senior member will then administer the oath to other lawmakers.

Giri added that political parties were also consulted on the content of the orientation program for newly elected members. Suggestions emphasized focusing more on practical aspects rather than purely theoretical issues.

He further noted that managing office space for parliamentary parties has been somewhat challenging, though arrangements have been made within available resources.

Following the discussion, the Secretariat also showed party representatives their respective office spaces. According to Giri, due to its large number of lawmakers, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has been accommodated in the office previously used by the Nepali Communist Party.
