KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and newly elected Member of Parliament, Balendra Shah, has made public the total expenses of his recent election campaign.
According to Shah, he spent Rs 1,417,289 during the Jhapa-5 contest, and the details have already been submitted to the Election Commission.
According to Shah, the breakdown includes Rs 293,500 for vehicle rentals, Rs 35,000 for air travel, Rs 29,390 for meals during voter training programs, and Rs 28,970 for snacks at ward-level campaign events.
Campaign activities accounted for Rs 580,000, while nomination-related expenses were Rs 10,000.
Shah has confirmed that the full expense report has been officially submitted to the Election Commission.
Shah secured a historic win by defeating former Prime Minister and CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli by nearly 50,000 votes.
Following this remarkable victory, Shah is now seen as a potential candidate for the prime ministership.
