GAUR, RAUTAHAT: Hundreds of personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Army have been deployed across Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat, to control ongoing communal tensions.

Despite heightened security, local residents report that sporadic shouting and minor disturbances continue in the town’s interior areas. The unrest began when loud music from a wedding DJ overlapped with Ramadan prayers, triggering objections from the Muslim community.

On Friday evening, the District Administration Office mediated a six-point agreement between leaders of the two communities to calm tensions. However, communal clashes resumed Saturday morning.

To control the situation, the administration imposed an indefinite curfew starting 1 PM, covering the area from Mudwalwa Gate in the east, Lalvaiya Dam in the west, Bam Nahar in the north, to the Gaur Customs Gate in the south.

Within the curfew zone, no one is allowed to move, gather, or hold meetings, rallies, or protests, according to the District Administration Office.
