KATHMANDU: The Gen Z Movement Alliance, formed with the participation of various Gen Z groups and individuals, has urged Chief Commissioner Prem Kumar Rai and all commissioners of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) to immediately submit voluntary resignations.

In a statement, the alliance said, “The main objective of our movement, which began on September 8, is to end corruption and impunity. However, since the appointments of those leading the CIAA were made without a fair and democratic process, they have compromised the credibility of the commission.”

The Gen Z Movement Alliance stated that since the federal parliament is not in session, the commissioners cannot be removed through an impeachment process, and the posts must be vacated through resignation.

The alliance also urged the interim government to form a fair selection committee through an open application process to appoint new commissioners.

“The new appointments must not come from a closed circle of elites but through open competition among all qualified and capable citizens,” the statement read.

The alliance warned that if the demand for resignation is not met, it will formally submit a petition at the CIAA office and, if necessary, undertake other programs.
