KATHMANDU: The government has approved the Security Printing Regulation 2082 to effectively implement the Security Printing Act 2081.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel informed that the regulation was endorsed under the authority granted by the Act.
Similarly, the government has decided to designate the Director General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting as the local authority for registering online media outlets in accordance with the Press and Publications Act 2048.
In response to the recent Gen Z protests, the government has also announced financial support for the families of Nepali citizens who died during the demonstrations on Bhadra 23 and 24.
Each bereaved family will receive Rs 1 million as compensation and an additional Rs 500,000 to cover funeral, food, and transportation expenses.
However, this support excludes families of prisoners and juvenile detainees who died while attempting to escape custody.
Furthermore, the government has decided to place the Department of Revenue Investigation and the Department of Money Laundering Investigation under the Ministry of Finance, while the National Investigation Department has been brought under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
