KATHMANDU: A total of 2,853 disaster-related incidents have been recorded across the country from mid-April to mid-August, resulting in 126 deaths and injuries to 585 people.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 5,041 families have been affected during this period, while 23 individuals remain missing.
Among the reported incidents, there were 216 cases of flooding, 317 landslides, 221 instances of heavy rainfall, 245 lightning strikes, and 77 snakebite cases.
Additionally, 1,114 fire incidents, 158 wildfires, 277 windstorms, 172 animal attacks, 46 other landslides, five earthquakes, two boat capsizings, and one case each of hailstorm and other disasters were recorded.
On August 16 alone, the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) recorded seven fire incidents, one flood, eight landslides, four instances of continuous rain, and three animal attacks. One person lost their life that day, and the estimated property damage was Rs 3.84 million.
A total of 140 police personnel were deployed for search, rescue, and relief operations in the affected areas.
