KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that a combination of western and local wind systems, along with moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, is currently influencing Nepal’s weather. This mixed system is contributing to cloudy conditions and the possibility of rainfall across various parts of the country.

At present, most areas in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as other hilly regions, are experiencing partly to generally cloudy skies. Light rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, has been observed in some hilly areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

During the day, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected to persist over Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, including hilly regions elsewhere. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in several locations within these provinces, while isolated hilly areas in other provinces may also see similar weather. Light snowfall is expected in a few high-hill and mountainous regions.

Tonight, isolated parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces, along with other hilly regions, may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Light snowfall remains likely in high-hill and mountainous areas.

The department has advised residents, especially in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, to remain alert. Due to potential impacts on daily life, agriculture, health, road conditions, and air transport, the public is urged to exercise caution.
