Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has asserted that there is no atmosphere in favor of monarchy in the country.
Talking to journalists in Dhangadhi, Kailali on Monday, Deuba commented that royalists were only creating a hullabaloo in favor of monarchy in the capital Kathmandu on Sunday.
“I have not seen any atmosphere in favor of monarchy in the country,” said President Deuba,”It was just a hullabaloo that happened on Sunday. Nothing can be achieved by creating an uproar.” Dubbing the welcome program for former King Gyanendra Shah in Kathmandu on Sunday a “hullabaloo”, he said, “it was full of sound and fury, but signifying nothing.”
President Deuba also reiterated that there is no misunderstanding between the ruling parties in running the government. He asserted that this equation will continue until 2084 BS.
President Deuba further said that the party’s 15th General Convention will be held on time. Deuba is in Dhangadhi today to inaugurate the NC’s provincial conference.
The first provincial conference of the Nepali Congress has begun in Dhangadhi in Sudurpaschim Province. President Deuba inaugurated the conference a while ago.
Along with President Deuba, Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma, leaders Gopalman Shrestha, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Balkrishna Khand and Dilendra Badu have also participated in the conference.
The NC’s statute stipulates that every working committee should hold a conference at least once a year to review past work and discuss the roadmap ahead.
