Kathmandu: The Janakpur Bolts secured their maiden Nepal Premier League (NPL) title with a thrilling 5-wicket victory over Sudurpaschim Royals in the final on Saturday.
Chasing a target of 185 runs, Janakpur achieved the score in 19.2 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Lahiru Milantha emerged as the hero for Janakpur, smashing an explosive 87 runs off 49 balls.
Aasif Sheikh contributed 33 runs from 19 balls, while Harsh Thaker remained unbeaten with 30 runs.
For Sudurpaschim Royals, Harmit Singh, Dipendra Singh Airee, Saif Zaib, and Ishan Pandey each claimed one wicket in the bowling department.
Earlier, Sudurpaschim Royals posted 184 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Opener Saif Zaib led the charge with a brilliant 69 runs off 43 balls, supported by Vinod Bhandari’s 41 runs from 31 balls.
Janakpur’s bowlers delivered a stellar performance, with Kishore Mahato and Mohammad Mohsin taking three wickets apiece.
James Neesham and Lalit Rajbanshi chipped in with one wicket each. With this victory, the Janakpur Bolts have etched their name in history as the first champions of the NPL.
