KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has announced that it will begin the second phase of its protests from November 23 in opposition to the arrest of its chair, Rabi Lamichhane.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s Chaumati office on Sunday, RSP spokesperson Manish Jha revealed the plans for the protest and also mentioned that the list of candidates for the December 1 by-election will be made public by 5 PM today.

“We will release the list of by-election candidates at 5 PM today. Starting November 23, the second phase of the RSP’s protest will commence,” Jha stated. “Our movement will expand further.”

He reiterated the party’s trust in the judicial system, despite being aware of the cases filed against RSP lawmakers.

Chair Lamichhane was arrested on October 18 on charges of misappropriation of cooperative savings, organized crime, and money laundering. He is currently being investigated under police custody in Kaski.
