In a tough situation, Nepal’s Ministry of Health is figuring out what to do with four million doses of Sinovac-CoronaVac Covid-19 vaccine that expired last December. These doses, a gift from China two years ago, couldn’t be used due to concerns about their shelf life. Health officials are now seeking advice from experts, including those from the World Health Organisation and Chinese vaccine manufacturers, on how to safely and affordably dispose of them. As the country also grapples with the JN.1 sub-variant of the coronavirus, authorities are reminding people to stick to safety measures.
