KATHMANDU: Chief Commissioner of the Election Commission, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, along with other officials, met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today to recommend the date for the upcoming by-election for local levels.

The proposed date is Sunday, Dec 1 (Mangsir 16). The government of Nepal has been consulted regarding the selection of this date.

The by-election is being planned to fill 41 vacant positions of local representatives, including two district coordination committee heads, for the remaining term.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Oli stated that the government would soon finalize the date after reviewing the proposal. He urged the election process to be conducted economically, independently, fairly, and peacefully.

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal, among others.
