KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has presented evidence related to outstanding dues from industries using power from dedicated and trunk line feeders.

The evidence includes data from TOD meters reading of these industries.

The NEA submitted a minivan full of documents to the Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday afternoon.

According to the NEA, 57 large-scale industries that used 24/7 power supply from Magh 2072 to Baishak 2075 BS during the country’s load-shedding period have yet to clear dues amounting to Rs 8,047,400,239.

These industries have been lobbying Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to remove NEA Managing Director Kulman Ghising in an effort to avoid settling their dues.

Under the direction of PM Oli and at the request of the businessmen, Energy Minister Deepak Khadka has already relieved two members of the NEA operations committee who opposed the government’s order to reconnect power supplies to industries with outstanding payments.
