KATHMANDU: Nepal Cricket Team Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel has expressed his dissatisfaction with the performances in the recent matches against the USA and the West Indies, emphasizing the need for improvement in batting and fielding.
Speaking at a press conference upon returning from participating in the T20 World Cup on Saturday, he highlighted the challenges faced by the team despite having confidence within the squad.
Paudel acknowledged the team’s struggle to achieve favorable outcomes due to the conditions on the field, especially on pitches in the USA and the West Indies, where none of the teams managed to post significant scores.
Despite the confidence in the squad, he stressed the importance of addressing weaknesses in both batting and fielding to excel in future matches.
He stated, “We had confidence going into the first game, but the field conditions didn’t yield positive results for us. As you’ve seen, no team managed to score well on the pitches in the USA. It’s about the overall game, and the bowlers did well. There’s room for improvement for everyone. We took the best 15 players with us. It was a challenge for the batsmen. It’s not just about blaming the batsmen; the bowlers had a good position, and that’s reflected in the results of this World Cup.”
Paudel affirmed that Nepal had selected the best 15 players for the World Cup, indicating a commitment to excel on the global stage.
He concluded by underscoring the necessity of refining both batting and fielding skills for future tournaments.
