KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has departed for Geneva, Switzerland.

He left this evening from Tribhuvan International Airport to lead the Nepali delegation at the 112th session of the International Labor Conference, which begins on Thursday.

Vice President Ram Sahay Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Deputy Prime Ministers, ministers, and other high-ranking officials were present to bid him farewell.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Paudel will address the opening forum of the ‘Global Coalition for Social Justice’ as the keynote speaker.

During the visit, he is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Viola Amherd, on June 12.

This is the first-ever bilateral meeting between the heads of state of Nepal and the Swiss Confederation after Nepal became a republic.

Following his stay in Geneva, President Paudel will depart for Berlin, Germany, on June 15, as confirmed by the ministry’s spokesperson, Amrit Bahadur Rai.

He will undertake an official visit to Germany at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, with a formal meeting scheduled for June 17. Accompanying President Paudel will be his wife, Sabita Paudel.

Other members of the delegation include Foreign Affairs Expert Dr. Suresh Chandra Chalise, secretaries from the President’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nepali ambassadors to Switzerland and Germany, and senior officials from the President’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

President Paudel is set to return home on June 19, upon completion of his visit.
