Ministry of Education to revise procedure on distribution of sanitary pads

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is preparing to revise the procedures on distribution of sanitary pads to the girl students of community schools.

The government has been providing funds for free sanitary pads for the girls in the public schools through the concerned local levels. Lately, the Ministry received complaints from various organizations and media that the sanitary pads were poor quality.

In this regard, the Ministry held discussions on Thursday to draw suggestions from stakeholders and experts on the revised draft.

Minister Sumana Shrestha informed that the procedure would be revised following the suggestions from the stakeholders. It would help maintain quality sanitary product.

She further said environment friendly products would be given priority.
