KATHMANDU: A group of editors has written a joint letter to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, urging immediate legal action against Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

This comes after the arrest of Kailash Sirohiya, Chair of Kantipur Media Group (KMG), on Tuesday.

In the five-point letter, signed by 32 editors from various media outlets, they expressed concern over what they described as Sirohiya’s retaliatory arrest.

They pointed out that his arrest on charges of citizenship fraud directly from his office raises serious questions.

The editors also reminded that when Lamichhane first became Home Minister, there were claims that he was not a Nepalese citizen at the time.

They accused Minister Lamichhane of acting hostilely towards the media.

Additionally, they brought to the Prime Minister’s attention the severe issue of cooperative fraud.

Here’s the joint letter sent by the editors to the Prime Minister:-
