Government approves Rs 13.33 billion concessional loan

KATHMANDU: The government has greenlit a concessional loan of approximately Rs 13.33 billion to be provided by the World Bank.

The recent Cabinet decision was disclosed during a news conference held at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on May 3.

Additionally, the government has sanctioned the participation of Attorney General Dr. Dinmani Pokharel and Deputy Attorney General Sanjeev Raj Regmi in the ‘Regional Programme for South Asia’ scheduled in New Delhi on May 7.

During the briefing, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, announced that the Cabinet endorsed the India visit of Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya from May 4 to 9 to observe the general election in India.

Furthermore, approval was granted to revise the design of Nepali currency notes with a denomination of Rs 100 by replacing the old map of Nepal in the background with the new administrative map.

Minister Sharma also revealed that the government approved the draft of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed between the Supreme Court of Nepal and its counterpart in India for judicial cooperation.

The MoU will be signed by the Chief Registrar or Registrars of the highest courts of both countries.

Additionally, the MoU on establishing a consultative mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and that of Spain was endorsed, and approval was granted to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to sign the MoU.

Other decisions taken during the meeting include the appointment of former judge of the High Court Shrawan Kumar Gautam as the Chairperson of the Problematic Cooperatives Management Committee.

The decision to backtrack the National Information and Technology Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2058 was also made. Moreover, the government announced the transfer of some secretaries.
