President Paudel urges Qatar’s Emir for initiative for Bipin Joshi release

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has requested Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to take initiative for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who went missing after the attack of Hamas in Israel.

During a bilateral meeting held at the Presidential Residence today, President Ram Chandra Poaudel appealed to Qatar’s AEmir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to take the initiative for the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who has been detained following the Hamas attack in Israel.

President Paudel, currently on a two-day state visit to Nepal following an amicable invitation from the Qatari Emir, highlighted the importance of Joshi’s release for their respective countries and urged Sheikh Tamim to prioritize this matter.

According to the President’s press advisor Kiran Pokharel, the discussion revolved around the significance of Joshi’s release and reiterated Qatar’s previous efforts in this regard.

Bipin Joshi has been in detention since Oct 7, 2023, following the Hamas attack. The Emir had previously taken steps and expressed willingness to further address this issue.
