{"id":3896,"date":"2026-10-22T08:02:26","date_gmt":"2026-10-22T08:02:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalinewshub.com\/?p=3896"},"modified":"2026-10-22T08:02:26","modified_gmt":"2026-10-22T08:02:26","slug":"nepal-to-host-icc-mens-cricket-world-cup-qualifier-playoff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalinewshub.com\/?p=3896","title":{"rendered":"Nepal to host ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KATHMANDU:<\/strong> Nepal will host the ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff from December 4 to 21, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament will feature eight teams: the bottom four teams from the ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup League 2, along with the top two teams each from ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League A and B.<\/p>\n<p>The top four teams from the playoff will advance to the 2027 ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup Qualifier, keeping their hopes of securing a place in the One-Day International (ODI) World Cup alive.<\/p>\n<p>Nepal will have an opportunity to reach the World Cup Qualifier for the second consecutive time through the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Nepal\u2019s scheduled cricket series against India A will be affected by the hosting of the international competition and will no longer take place according to the previously planned schedule.<\/p>\n<p>CAN Secretary Paras Khadka said a revised schedule for the Nepal-India A series would be finalized through mutual consultation and agreement between CAN and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).<\/p>\n<p>Hosting the qualifier playoff will provide Nepal with an opportunity to stage a major international cricket tournament while competing teams battle for places in the qualification pathway for the 2027 ODI World Cup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU: Nepal will host the ICC Men\u2019s Cricket World Cup Qualifier Playoff from December 4 to 21, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced.
