KATHMANDU:<\/strong> The election for the House of Representatives has been completed, and vote results from across the country are gradually being made public.<\/p>\n

As preparations begin for the new parliamentary term, officials have said that the meeting of newly elected lawmakers will be held at the under-construction Parliament building inside\u00a0Singha Durbar<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

According to the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, although the entire construction of the Parliament building has not yet been completed, work is being carried out at an accelerated pace so that upcoming sessions of the House of Representatives can be held there.<\/p>\n

Previously, parliamentary meetings were conducted at the\u00a0Birendra International Convention Centre<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0New Baneshwor<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

However, the facility suffered complete damage after it was set on fire during the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 24.<\/p>\n

Following the destruction of the convention centre, authorities are now arranging the necessary infrastructure and facilities so that meetings of the newly elected representatives can take place at the Parliament building being constructed inside Singha Durbar.<\/p>\n

The overall physical progress of the Parliament building project has reached 93 percent, while financial progress stands at 78 percent.<\/p>\n

The building, being constructed at a cost of Rs 5.03 billion (excluding VAT), has been contracted to a joint venture between Nepalese construction company\u00a0Tundi Construction<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and Chinese company\u00a0SEEC Construction Company<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The foundation stone of the building was laid on 2076 Ashoj 1 by then-Prime Minister\u00a0KP Sharma Oli<\/span><\/span>, with the target of completing the project within three years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
