FNJ demands action against guilty

The Federation of Nepali Journalists has demanded action against those guilty of misbehaving with and manhandling journalist Namita Dahal during news reporting.

The FNJ says, “The attention of the FNJ has been drawn on the incident of manhandling and misbehaving with journalist Dahal, working at Onlinekhabar.Com, at Tribhuvan International Airport in the course of news reporting this afternoon.”

According to Onlinekhabar.Com, some people present at Tribhuvan Airport misbehaved with journalist Dahal, saying why she being a woman came to such a place at a time when she had gone for news reporting at a programme organised at Tribhuvan Airport to welcome Nepali National Cricket Team.

Issuing a press release, the FNJ said that such type of activities upon journalists fulfilling their duty was highly condemnable and against press freedom.

“The FNJ demands the concerned bodies to respect the constitutional freedom of press by bringing the guilty under the ambit of law by carrying out investigation into such anti-press activities”, reads the statement.
