CIAA filed 162 charges of corruption last year

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed 162 corruption cases in the financial year 079/080.

According to Bhola Dahal, the Commission’s spokesperson, the majority of the complaints brought in the special court are related to corruption at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and the local level.
Then there is a member of the Ministry of Land Management. According to Dahal, 36 percent of the cases are federal in nature.
In one year, 766 people were asked for 1 billion 75 crore 21 lakh 6 thousand 634 rupees. A total of 64 of the 162 instances are related to illicit gain or loss. Similarly, 32 cases include bribes. There are 27 reports of public property damage.
There is one special category, 214 official level, and 144 people among the 766 people implicated in corruption charges.
Similarly, there are 209 elected and nominated officials, as well as 198 registered voters.
