Kathmandu- Chetan’s wife Bharti Manandhar broke her fast after the amnesty granted to Yog Dhakal, known as ‘Regal’, accused of Chetan Manandhar’s murder, was revoked by the Supreme Court.
Bharti, who was on a hunger strike demanding justice after the government pardoned Regal, broke the fast by drinking juice along with the Supreme Court order.
She was fasting in Maitighar and reached the Supreme Court shortly before the order came from the Supreme Court. She appealed to the Supreme Court saying that she got justice after the order of the Supreme Court.
Unhealthy due to hunger strike, he has now been taken to Veer Hospital for treatment. She broke her fast at Veer Hospital. On the occasion of Constitution Day, President Ramchandra Paudel commuted Regal’s sentence on the government’s recommendation. A bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Sapna Pradhan Malla and Kumar Chudal on Thursday quashed Regal’s imprisonment.
After Regal was pardoned, Chetan’s then wife Bharti filed a petition in the Supreme Court. Dhakal has been arrested by the Banke police after the Supreme Court overturned the prison sentence.
Nepal Police Assistant Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dan Bahadur Karki said Regal was arrested as per the court order.
