11 nominations for chair of 10 committees
Nominations for the chairmanship of the committee have been registered today by the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament from the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), and Janamat Party.

KATHMANDU: Nominations for the chairmanships of the House of Representatives’ ten thematic committees have been registered.
Nominations for the chairmanship of the committee have been registered today by the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament from the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), and Janamat Party, according to the Secretariat of the Federal Parliament.
A single candidate has been nominated to chair nine of the ten committees, with two individuals nominated to chair the industry and commerce and labor and consumer welfare committees.
Santosh Chalise of the Nepali Congress has been nominated for the Finance Committee chairmanship, Rajkishor Yadav of the Janata Samajwadi for the International Relations and Tourism Committee chairmanship, Abdul Khan of Janamat and Ganesh Parajuli of the RSP for the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee chairmanships.
Also, Bimala Subedi of the Maoist Center has also been nominated to chair the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee, Arzu Rana Deuba of the Congress to chair the Agricultural Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee, Kiran Kumar Sah to chair the Women and Social Affairs Committee, and Ramhari Khatiwada to chair the State Order and Good Governance Committee.
Similarly, RPP’s Deepak Bahadur Singh has been nominated as the chairman of the Infrastructure Development Committee, Bhanubhakta Joshi of the Integrated Samajwadi Party as the chairman of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, and Rishikesh Pokharel of the UML as the chair of the Public Accounts Committee, the secretariat said.
The process of selecting the leadership of the parliamentary committee began only nine months following the election of the House of Representatives. The committee’s work could not be effective since the head of the parliamentary committee, which is regarded as a “mini parliament,” could not be chosen.
Secretary Padma Prasad Pandey informed that the election program has been published so that a member of the committee can be elected as the chairman with the support of another member from 11 am to 4 pm today. Currently, the committee meeting is being held under the chairmanship of the senior member.
