Speaker Sapkota says: Parliament is the soul of democracy

Bhaktapur- Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota has said that Parliament is the soul of democracy.
Inaugurating the ‘Federal Model Youth Parliament Practice Program’ organized today at the youth council in Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, he said that Parliament is the soul of democracy in the ultimate sense.
Speaker Sapkota discussed that the higher the level of human consciousness, the more democracy can play a role in favor of the people and said that the Parliament is a place where the voice of the people can be heard.
Mentioning that the parliament will be the highest practice of democracy, he said, “Democracy will succeed only if we are democratic. The alternative to democracy is more advanced democracy. It is not only a matter of discourse and giving speeches, but a way of life.”
Discussing that there is nothing greater in the world than ideas, Speaker Sapkota said that the youth should campaign for the end of distortions and disharmony in elections.
He said that he was concerned about the terrible situation of money laundering in the local level elections and said that the youth should conduct a campaign to end such distortions and disharmony.
In the program, the Executive Vice President of the National Youth Council, Surendra Basnet, among others mentioned that the role of the youth is important for a fair election.
